Junior Remote (Drone / UAV) Pilot

About the role:

Unmanned Systems Australia is looking for more junior qualified RPA operator to continue the rapid expansion of the company and work with the largest IT company in the world. Project Wing (part of Google) partnered with Unmanned Systems Australia is conducting commercial drone delivery operations now in the ACT.  The future is now and we need more RPA pilots to help the expansion to new locations across the ACT.

The position is designed for a person who understands CASA regulations for RPA and someone who is qualified in Small RPA Category. Personnel who are successful in this application will be operating in conjunction with more senior qualified RPA personnel and will be trained on the Project Wing system, including flight operations, ground operation, merchant operations and observation duties.  The position is located in Canberra with multiple site opening in 2018. 

This position is designed for someone who is starting in the RPA industry, and who will be open to a variety of challenging and interesting duties and will help to grow with the business as we expand our coverage.

Accountabilities:

  • Undertaking Observer duties during Extended Visual Line of Sight Operations.
  • Communicating on the Radio.
  • Operations of a UAS Traffic Management System
  • Ensuring the Remotely Piloted Aircraft and supporting hardware is serviceable for flight operations.
  • Assisting in stores control and site set-up.
  • Undertaking RPAS Pilot in Command activities and responsibilities in accordance with CASA Regulations and Unmanned Systems Australia RPA Operators Certificate (ReOC).
  • Assisting in the loading of aircraft for commercial delivery opertaions.
  • Conducting Merchant based customer focused delivery operations as part of Project Wing.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and previous experience operating RPA in Australia's airspace regulations and procedures suitable for the RPA class.
  • Be in possession of a remote pilot license (RePL) in the small category (multi-copter up to 25Kg).
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and are able to communicate with air traffic effectively.
  • The ability to work accurately and unsupervised, and the ability to prioritise work as required and manage.
  • Good computer skills including G-Suite, Microsoft Office, web-based tools. Web-based programming is an advantage.
